Meriggio, in Losone, is where the Melezza and Maggia rivers meet, a favourite local spot for a riverside afternoon on a sand beach with self-service BBQ stations, a swim, and space to play.
Free access, bring your own food and drinks for the grill
Sand beach, picnic tables, self-service BBQ stations (bring your own charcoal), a beach volleyball field, soccer goals (bring a ball), a bar, and rocks to jump into the water from.
Half day to full day
Late spring to early autumn
We recommend going by car. Alternatively, take the train to Locarno, then bus number 7 to Caserma, followed by a 7-minute walk.
From the hotel, follow the lake until you reach the river, then follow the river until you reach a bridge. Cross it and keep following the river until you get to Meriggio, a really nice ride.
Use the self-grill and tables on the riverside lawn, then cool off with a swim where the two rivers meet.
Return the same way you came, by car, public transport or bike.
No booking required. Bring your own charcoal to use the BBQ stations, and pack a ball if you'd like to play soccer.
