Brissago Islands

A relaxing half-day trip combining a scenic boat ride across Lake Maggiore with a visit to the subtropical botanical garden on Isola Grande, the larger of the two Brissago Islands. The smaller island, Isola di San Pancrazio, is privately owned and not open to visitors.

How to get there


From the hotel to the pier

Walk (20 minutes), take the bus (6 minutes) or the train (2 minutes) to the boat pier on the lake, just below Locarno train station.


Boat ride

Board the Lake Maggiore boat towards Brissago. The crossing offers lovely views along the shore.


Visit the botanical garden

Explore the gardens' Mediterranean and subtropical plant collections on Isola Grande at your own pace.


Back to the hotel

Catch a return boat to Locarno and walk back to the hotel.
